A family home which has it all
BUILDING plots in the best locations are rare, which is why Justine and Mark Wilcox decided to look for a property they could replace.
The two bedroom bungalow they bought in a prime spot with panoramic views is now a 5,400 sq ft luxury five-bedroom home with its own indoor swimming pool and gym.
“We got planning permission before we bought the bungalow and luckily for us the land it was classed as an infill plot so we didn’t have to stick to the footprint of the original house,” says Justine, who project the managed the build with invaluable help and advice from her dad John Watson, a bricklayer.
“I was also very involved in the design. I wanted separate spaces, rather than anything too open plan downstairs. I was also keen to have a separate lounge area for our two daughters.”
The build started in October 2006 and the family moved into their new home in January 2008 and the house now boasts an entrance hall with contemporary glass and steel staircase, a cloakroom, dining room, sitting room, study, utility room and a dining kitchen that includes everything from a coffee machine to a champagne cooler and integral barbecue.
The leisure complex includes an entertainment room with pool table and sitting area, a swimming pool, gym and ensuite shower room.
Upstairs, there is a lavish master suite with a stand alone bath and double shower unit plus his and hers dressing rooms. There are two further suites with dressing rooms and en-suites plus two more double bedrooms and a house bathroom. Outside, there is a gated entrance, parking area, triple garage and gardens.
Justine and Mark are selling now that their daughters have grown up and moved on.
“I love the house, but it is really too big for just the two of us. It needs a family to fill it,” says Justine.
LUXURY: Inside there are five bedrooms and a leisure wing.
