Corn­wall top of list for sec­ond homes

NEW anal­y­sis from Primelo­ca­tion. com re­veals that Corn­wall con­tains the high­est num­ber of sec­ond homes in the UK at an av­er­age price of £247,432, head­lin­ing a year of growth for the mar­ket.

The num­ber of hol­i­day or sec­ond homes in the UK rose from 246,026 in 2010 to 246,494 in 2011.

There are over 14,000 sec­ond homes in Corn­wall, which is al­most twice as many as the next lo­cal au­thor­ity in Prime Lo­ca­tion’s top ten. West­min­ster has 7,152 at an av­er­age price of £1,048,599.

Scar­bor­ough is ninth in the top ten ta­ble with 3,979 sec­ond homes out of a to­tal num­ber of 55,640 prop­er­ties in the town, which means that 7.2 per cent are hol­i­day bolt holes.
