Cornwall top of list for second homes
NEW analysis from Primelocation. com reveals that Cornwall contains the highest number of second homes in the UK at an average price of £247,432, headlining a year of growth for the market.
The number of holiday or second homes in the UK rose from 246,026 in 2010 to 246,494 in 2011.
There are over 14,000 second homes in Cornwall, which is almost twice as many as the next local authority in Prime Location’s top ten. Westminster has 7,152 at an average price of £1,048,599.
Scarborough is ninth in the top ten table with 3,979 second homes out of a total number of 55,640 properties in the town, which means that 7.2 per cent are holiday bolt holes.
