Builders welcome planning changes

Yorkshire Post - Property - - FRONT PAGE -

THE Government’s changes to the planning system via the National Planning Policy Framework have been welcomed by the housebuilding industry.

The biggest change is that local councils will be responsible for their own planning decisions and although they have been told to “enable” development, they should look to giving permission for brown field sites before considering green field.

There is also emphasis on redeveloping existing town centres rather than out-of-town schemes.

The new guidelines should speed up planning applications.

Steve Lees, of Smartnewhomes. com, says the NPPF lays the foundations for a house-building and economic recovery.
