Price of a home rises slightly
PROPERTY prices rose by 0.1 per cent across England and Wales in February to stand at £161,588, according to the Land Registry.
It says house prices had barely changed from a year ago and were down by 0.6 per cent over the 12 months.
London outperformed the rest of the country, with a monthly price rise of 1.4 per cent and an annual rise of 4.2 per cent, with average property prices now £354,300. In contrast, there were falls in several regions, including the North-east where house prices dropped 2.6 per cent between January and February.
The Land Registry also reported that transactions rose slightly between September and December last year.
