Mill developer aims to rescue heritage
AWARD-WINNING Holmfirth developer Conroy Brook hopes to convert a former textile mill in New Mill village, near Holmfirth.
The company has put forward proposals to transform Sude Hill Mill into 16 apartments designed by Huddersfield architects Acumen.
Conroy Brook project manager, Andrew Battye, said: “This development aims to help preserve the mill’s heritage in a way that is beneficial to the community, rather then leave it to either be demolished, or become a vacant and derelict building.
“We intend to retain many of the existing elements, removing only the extension added in 1998 to accommodate a contemporary link between the two original buildings erected in 1848.”
