Homeprices march downwards
LAND Registry figures show that average house prices fell 0.6 per cent in March.
The North East had the greatest monthly rise at 5.6 per cent and Yorkshire outperformed much of the market with a fall of just 0.1 per cent, though prices have seen an annual decrease of 2.2 per cent. London experienced the highest increase over the last 12 months with a rise of 0.7 per cent. Wales saw the greatest fall of -5.5 per cent.
Meanwhile, Hometrack reports a 0.1 per cent rise in average prices for April and say the number of properties on the market has risen by almost 19 per cent over the past three months.
Research director Richard Donnell expects prices to flatten out as summer approaches.
