Agency expelled by ombudsman

Yorkshire Post - Property - - PROPERTY -

A SALES and lettings estate agency has been expelled from membership of The Property Ombudsman scheme.

The TPO say WYL Ltd, of Keighley, committed serious breaches of its Lettings Code of Practice and failed to pay an award of £3,450 made against it by the Ombudsman, Christopher Hamer.

The ombudsman found that the firm had also failed to provide its terms of business to the landlord or get him to sign a copy and had failed to lodge a tenant’s deposit with a recognised protection scheme,

WYL spokesman Wazim Ali said the agency managed 300 properties and the complaint was from one landlord among a lot of satisfied customers
