HARWORTH Estates’ planning application to build 1200 new homes on the former site of Rossington Colliery has been approved by Doncaster Borough Council.

Work on the project is anticipated to start after the link road opens in 2014 and completion is expected in 2015.

Rossington Colliery closed in 2007. Adrian Spawforth, project designer and managing director of Spawforths, consultants on the project, says: “It is a credit to the teams, officers, councillors, and community representatives who have supported the scheme over the last year that, even in these challenging times, there is a will to make things happen and things that are truly transformational can still be achieved.”
