TAYLOR Wimpey North Yorkshire says that 52 per cent of its annual property sales have come from first-time buyers.

They have sold 235 homes in the last 12 months, with 122 of them purchased by first-timers.

Debbie Whittingham, regional sales and marketing director of Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, says: “Contrary to the recent reports of first-time buyers struggling to get on to the housing ladder, we have had a significant percentage of our sales coming from those who are buying their first property.”

Over half have bought using shared equity schemes on offer, which mean they need only come up with a five per cent deposit.
