City boosted by affordable homes
AFFORDABLE housing is rare in the centre of York but The Gates development has shared ownership deals bringing the cost of a two-bedroom apartment down to 72,500 for a 50 per cent share, while a townhouse on the same terms is £105,000.
Tees Valley Housing, York Housing Association and City of York Council are celebrating the completion of the £25m project at Regent Gate.
The site has 60 bungalows and 95 homes for affordable rent, low cost home ownership and market sale, as well as an Auden House extra care scheme, which allows people to live independently with support.
The development should be finished next month.
