Cash pledge to get Britain building
DEPUTY prime minister Nick Clegg has announced that £225m is to be made available to new homes developers.
Speaking to the National House Building Council, he said that the extra cash would “de-risk” schemes identified as having “hit a wall”. He said the money could unlock over 48,000 homes in larger schemes.
He said: “We will ensure that any public sector investment secures value for money from the taxpayer, and once these developments are complete, the taxpayer will get that money back.”
Mr Clegg also unveiled a vision to build new garden cities, saying that more Green Belt land could be designated around new settlements.
