Mixed reviews for statement
THE Government’s Autumn statement got mixed reviews from the property industry.
The National Association of Estate Agents was pleased to see no change to Stamp Duty but was disappointed to see no extra help for first-time buyers.
The Federation of Master Builders welcomed confirmation of support to developers to build 120,000 new homes but chief executive Brian Berry said: “Efforts by the Government to bring forward new sites quickly by releasing public-sector land and investing in infrastructure are welcome, but too often these measures don’t benefit smaller house builders.
“The funding needs to be readily available for use on smaller-scale developments.”
