More young driven to house share

Yorkshire Post - Property - - PROPERTY -

YOUNG professionals taking their first step on the career ladder are having to house share because rents are simply too high, warns a Leeds letting agent.

Luke Gidney, director of LetLeeds, says a shortage of suitable property in the rental market for young professionals has forced prices up. He says: “There seems to be a huge increase in young professional people looking for shared accommodation. We are being contacted again and again about rooms in shared houses by young doctors, trainee lawyers and other people starting out in very respectable professions.

“People who historically would have looked to rent a property for just them, or maybe for them and a friend or partner, now want a room in a house share.”
