North heads list for price hit prop­er­ties

THE num­ber of prop­er­ties that have had their ask­ing price re­duced at least once has fallen to its low­est level in more than two and half years, says Zoopla.

The pro­por­tion of re­duced homes on the mar­ket now stands at 31.5 per cent, which is down from 36.7 per cent a year ago.

Rom­ford, in Es­sex, has had the big­gest price re­duc­tions in the UK at 10.3 per cent off the orig­i­nal ask­ing price, fol­lowed by Black­pool at 9.9 per cent and Swansea at 9.8 per cent. Lon­don has one of the low­est per­cent­ages of price-re­duced prop­er­ties at 26.7 per cent. The 10 ar­eas with the high­est pro­por­tion of such prop­er­ties are all in the North. Wi­gan tops the list with 42.6 per cent, Barnsley is 41.2 per cent and Rother­ham is 40.9 per cent.
