City wins poll for second homes
IN a landslide victory, York beat off nine other destinations to be voted the most popular choice for a second home in the UK.
A poll by new homes portal whathouse.co.uk, 66 per cent of readers voted York top choice. The city was followed by Devon with nine per cent and then Scottish Highlands with seven per cent. Bath and Cornwall tied at five per cent, while Brighton bagged four per cent of the vote.
Assistant editor of whathouse. co.uk Laurna Robertson said that while York is a vibrant city with lots to offer, Cornwall and Devon were traditionally considered more desirable areas for second homes. She said: “I wonder if the popularity of York may have to do with the more affordable homes for sale there.”
