RIBA wants Bud­get to back build­ing

THE Royal In­sti­tute of Bri­tish Ar­chi­tects is urg­ing the Government to use the up­com­ing bud­get to get the UK build­ing in or­der to cre­ate growth, ad­dress the hous­ing cri­sis and de­liver homes and com­mu­ni­ties that peo­ple want to live in.

RIBA Pres­i­dent An­gela Brady has called on the Government to in­crease cap­i­tal in­vest­ment in new in­fra­struc­ture, pub­lic build­ings and hous­ing to kick­start eco­nomic growth. She also calls for them to pro­vide the mech­a­nisms to fi­nance the de­liv­ery of 300,000 new homes each year along­side im­me­di­ate ac­tion to start build­ing the next gen­er­a­tion of ecofriendly garden cities. RIBA also want an in­ven­tory of all pub­liclyowned land de­tail­ing the sites that can be sold to de­vel­op­ers.
