Rock star location for home with stunning views
BRIMHAM Rocks are a popular tourist attraction and the National Trust controlled site is often busy with visitors who love the weird and wonderfully-shaped stones and the magnificent views over Nidderdale.
The owners of Beacon Lodge can enjoy the famous geological phenomenon in complete solitude as the property comes with its very own bit of the famous Brimham rock formations.
The 4.5 acres of land around the house include Brimham Beacon, which is also one of the country’s 4,000 landmarks where flames are lit to commemorate days of national importance.
Owner Steve Barker moved to the area in 1988 with his family after he and his parents pooled resources to buy a farmhouse, cottage and the land.
He says: “The National Trust land borders ours but our section of the rocks is private. Professional rock climbers love it and we do allow them to use it with prior permission.
“We also allow the parish council to light the beacon, though again this is with our permission.”
Steve and his family lived at Beacon Lodge but have since moved next door. The property is located down a private lane two floors. Plans are available from Strutt and Parker.
The accommodation now includes an entrance hall which continues into a generous dining room with kitchen adjacent. The sitting room is the most substantial room on the ground floor and has a wood burning stove and exposed beams.
The family room/bedroom four lies at the eastern end of the house, while the inner hall has a shower room adjacent and stairs leading up to three bedrooms and a family bathroom. There is space within the largest bedroom to create an en-suite shower room if required.
Outside to the rear of the house, there is a large garden lawns with flower beds and an orchard, a useful store and gardener’s WC. Beacon Lodge is situated just north of Summerbridge, which has shops and it is close to Pateley Bridge, which has more amenities.
Beacon Lodge is in a stunning position in Nidderdale and comes with its own section of Brimham Rocks
