Call for action on flood insurance
MPS have been debating flood insurance amid concerns that there is no deal on a replacement for the arrangement on high risk areas, which expires in June.
Ian Paton, partner in project and building consultancy Cluttons, has urged the Government to work with the Association of British Insurers to find a solution.
“The previous agreement on flood insurance in high risk areas saw insurers guarantee the provision of cover in these areas if the Government invested significantly each year on flood defences.
“Given that this is due to expire in three short months, we are becoming increasingly concerned about the lack of protection for property owners going forward,” he said.
