Investors homing in on Harrogate

LONDON-BASED buy-to-let investors are widening their search to Yorkshire’s hotspots.

Harrogate estate agent and auctioneer Feather Smailes Scales said London buyers were targeting North Yorkshire.

Richard Smailes said: “We have seen an increased level of interest from Londoners looking at the buy-to-let market in Harrogate, which they see as a safe and secure investment area not too dissimilar to the affluent parts of London such as Hampstead and Richmond. The Georgian townhouses around the Stray and central Harrogate are attracting particular interest at the moment, more so than flats.”

Although capital growth isn’t as great as in London, rental yields and affordability are good.
