THE royal birth, the triumph of the British and Irish Lions in Australia and Andy Murray becoming the first male British Wimbledon winner in 77 years, along with the prolonged spell of good weather, has lifted the country’s spirits and had a positive effect on the housing market, according to national estate agent Strutt & Parker.

The fact that most homes look more appealing in the sunlight and that house hunting when the weather’s fine is also a more pleasurable experience means those wishing to sell should keep one eye on the long-term weather forecasts, said James Mackenzie, head of Strutt & Parker’s country department.

“There is a good atmosphere across the country,” he added.
