Sur­vey­ors see rise in build­ing projects

THE strug­gling York­shire con­struc­tion sec­tor has been boosted by a rise in the num­ber of new projects.

The lat­est Royal In­sti­tu­tion of Char­tered Sur­vey­ors con­struc­tion mar­ket sur­vey says ac­tiv­ity has slowly started to pick up.

Dur­ing the sec­ond quar­ter of the year a net bal­ance of 20 per cent more sur­vey­ors in the re­gion re­ported rises in work­loads, the most pos­i­tive read­ing in over seven years.

This pos­i­tiv­ity is ex­pected to con­tinue over the com­ing year with 56 per cent more re­spon­dents pre­dict­ing work­loads will con­tinue to rise rather than fall. Around 40 per cent of sur­vey­ors in York­shire an­tic­i­pate in­creased profit mar­gins dur­ing the next quar­ter.
