A PROP­ERTY in Leeds sold within a week and it may have been be­cause of its out­side toi­let.

The grade two listed house at Alma Cot­tages in Head­in­g­ley boasts its own castel­lated loo, with tur­rets and bat­tle­ments.

The out­house at the Vic­to­rian cot­tage has fea­tured in the BBC TV pro­gramme How We Built Bri­tain and ar­chi­tec­tural his­to­rian Pevs­ner called it “one of the grand­est out­side priv­ies in Eng­land; in blocks of two with crenel­lated para­pets”.

The prop­erty was sold by es­tate agents Castlehill within five days of go­ing on the mar­ket for £225,000. Di­rec­tor Si­mon Ketteringham said: “It’s eye­catch­ing. I have not seen any­thing like it and it pro­vided a big talk­ing point on view­ings.”
