Pay the price if you wait to fix a leak
HOMEOWNERS are waiting an average of six months to fix a leak in their homes with many waiting over a year, research by RatedPeople.com has found.
Around 40 per cent of homeowners claim that their property suffered extensive damage from a seemingly minor leak.
The study also showed that our leaky taps are wasting 1,669,800,000 litres of water every year. Some 15 per cent of homeowners admitted to ignoring a leak in the hope that it would resolve itself. One in 10 said that they knew they had a problem with their pipes, which could have been fixed earlier, but they waited until the damage was done before taking action to fix it.
