NEW re­search has re­vealed the power of the Press is sec­ond to none when it comes to buy­ing and sell­ing houses.

Mar­ket an­a­lysts SPA Fu­ture Think­ing, whose cus­tomers in­clude Sky and the BBC, found that 55 per cent of peo­ple went straight to their lo­cal pa­per when buy­ing or sell­ing a house.

In fact, they went to their lo­cal pa­per be­fore con­sult­ing es­tate agent web­sites.

The re­search also found that over a third of those con­tin­ued to read the pa­per af­ter sell­ing their home or mov­ing into a new prop­erty.

The sur­vey found even those peo­ple who did not have a house to sell or were not in the mar­ket to buy still reg­u­larly con­sulted the prop­erty sec­tion of the pa­per.
