Surge in number of house hunters
THERE are significantly more house hunters in the market compared with this time last year, but first-time buyer numbers have fallen again, according to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA).
Figures from the NAEA October housing market report show a 25 per cent increase. Buying a house as a couple was the most popular method seen by agents, with nine out of ten properties being sold to pairs. Only six per cent of properties were sold to individuals.
First-time buyer figures dropped, from 25 per cent in September to 24 per cent last month. There was also a sharp drop in properties available for sale in October, falling by seven per cent over the month.
