Plan­ners per­mit more build­ing

THE Home Builders Fed­er­a­tion’s lat­est Hous­ing Pipe­line re­port show a big in­crease in the num­ber of plan­ning per­mis­sions be­ing granted for new homes.

It shows that 44,251 per­mis­sions were granted in the third quar­ter of the year in Eng­land on 826 sites – up 31 per cent year-onyear and 19 per cent on the pre­vi­ous quar­ter and is the most per­mis­sions granted in quar­ter three since 2007.

HBF ex­ec­u­tive chair­man Stewart Base­ley said: “This is the lat­est in­di­ca­tor to show how the in­dus­try is look­ing to quickly in­crease out­put.

“We have al­ready seen ev­i­dence of a rise in new homes starts and th­ese fig­ures show the in­dus­try’s in­tent to in­crease and sus­tain that over the next few years.”
