Tenants urged to act on rent arrears
TENANTS falling behind on their rent payments should take immediate action and speak to their landlords before the problem escalates, says tenant eviction and rent recovery service Landlord Assist.
The advice comes after a report by the Money Advice Trust stated that their Debtline helpline had received 20,000 calls from people behind with their rent in 2013, with the charity revealing that more than half of all their calls now come from people renting their home.
The charity adds that calls from people with rent arrears have increased 37 per cent over the last two years, and 13 per cent in the last 12 months.
Rent arrears are now the fastestgrowing debt problem in the UK.
