School con­ver­sion into mini vil­lage

LEEDS-BASED de­vel­op­ers Rush­bond Group and Ad­vent De­vel­op­ments have sub­mit­ted a plan­ning ap­pli­ca­tion to trans­form a for­mer school in Up­per Wort­ley into a new vil­lage de­vel­op­ment con­sist­ing of 49 houses.

The plans will see the ex­ist­ing grade II listed Up­per Wort­ley School build­ing con­verted into 13, two and three bed­room houses to­gether with 36 new fam­ily homes built in the grounds. Plan­ning con­sent had pre­vi­ously been granted for an apart­ment based scheme and sub­ject to the re­vised scheme be­ing ap­proved con­struc­tion could start later this year.

Jonathan Maud, of Rush­bond, said: “We have taken the op­por­tu­nity to im­prove upon the orig­i­nal scheme.”
