Sacks not sandbags needed for floods
DIY stores B&Q and Homebase and The Range are now stocking an innovative alternative to sandbags.
The Hydrosack and Hydrosnake create a barrier to floodwater.
Once in contact with water, the products quickly expand and absorb up to 20 litres of liquid in around three minutes. The fillings then crystallise and retain their weight for up to six months.
They are compostable after use and cost from £14.98.
David Sallon, inventor of both the Hydro products, says: “Sandbags are invariably issued after the floods occur due to the difficulty in filling and distributing them. By the time they are filled and delivered, it’s normally too late.”
