DESIGNED by the renowned 20th century architect Leonard Rome Guthrie, Handley Cross in Cantley, near Doncaster, is steeped in history.

Guthrie is best known for his work on Winfield House in Regents Park, the BBC transmitter building and the University of London Observatory. Handley Cross, built in the early 1920s, was a great addition to his portfolio.

It’s now having a 21st facelift thanks to developers Duchy Homes, which is restoring and modernising the five-bedroom house. The property is for sale at £799,999. Jim Cropper, managing director at Duchy Homes, says: “We are taking every possible step to ensure that the house is carefully updated.”
