Starter home cash for Sheffield
STARTER HOMES: Sheffield is the only local authority in Yorkshire to receive government cash to help build starter homes on brownfield sites. The first wave of 30 councils were selected on the basis of their potential for early delivery of the scheme. The properties will be available to first-time buyers aged between 23 and 40 at a discount of at least 20 per cent below market value. Sheffield City Council is aiming to build 1,000 starter homes. If the partnership with government and developers goes well, work on the first homes could start later this year and the properties could be on sale by 2018.
