DIY: Almost three quarters of renters have conducted DIY at their own expense, according to Plentific.com. More than a fifth have spent over £500 on home improvements while renting. At 85 per cent, Sheffield has the highest percentage of tenants making home improvements and Leeds has the lowest at 40 per cent. Plentific’s Stephen Jury, said: “While tenants can consult and charge their landlord for any necessary changes, our findings show that most renters will pay for and conduct some home improvements themselves.

This shows that personalising the living area is important to Generation Rent.”
