Yorkshire rents rise as London’s fall
RENTS: SpareRoom.co.uk says rent increases in the Northern powerhouse regions remain high in comparison to the rest of the UK. On average, rents in Manchester, Liverpool, Hull, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds and Bradford increased by four per cent between the last quarters of 2015 and 2016. Rents in Bradford rose significantly, increasing by seven per cent to £323, while prices fell in London. SpareRoom says that rents are steadily increasing in commuter towns as UK tenants choose to make the move out of larger cities. Salford was number one in the top 10 post towns for the highest demand in quarter four 2016.
