Chi­nese zo­diac ef­fect on prices

FOR­TUNES: To mark Chi­nese New Year, Knight Frank has ex­am­ined UK house price per­for­mance over the Chi­nese zo­diac cy­cle of the past twelve years. Re­search re­veals av­er­age house price growth was high­est dur­ing the Year of the Dog, 9.26 per cent, which ran be­tween Jan­uary 29, 2006 and Fe­bru­ary, 17, 2007, mak­ing it the luck­i­est an­i­mal sign for home own­ers over the last twelve years. The Year of the Rat, which fell just af­ter the fi­nan­cial cri­sis – was the worst per­form­ing, with prices fall­ing by 16.55 per cent be­tween 2008 and 2009. This is the Year of the Rooster and prices are pre­dicted to rise by 4.36 per cent.
