North-south di­vide is now over £16m

HIGH­EST PRICE: The lat­est Price Paid Data from the Land Registry in­cludes de­tails of over 87,600 res­i­den­tial and com­mer­cial land and prop­erty sales in Eng­land and Wales lodged for reg­is­tra­tion in De­cem­ber 2016. Of the 87,678 sales, 64,924 were free­hold and 8,051 were newly-built. A to­tal of 610 homes were sold for £1 mil­lion and over and 365 of them were in Lon­don. The most ex­pen­sive res­i­den­tial sale was a ter­raced prop­erty in the Lon­don Bor­ough of Kens­ing­ton and Chelsea for £16,2m. In a stark ex­am­ple of the north­south di­vide, the cheap­est was a ter­raced prop­erty in Peter­lee, County Durham for £14,000.
