‘Gem of a building’ in cathedral city
CHAPEL: A Ripon chapel that has been a supermarket, hi-fi shop and offices is up for sale. The former Methodist chapel on Coltsgate Hill could be reborn as flats or a bar/restaurant and has a price tag of £500,000.
The property is close to the Marketgate retail development and the Curzon cinema and is owned by the Knoll Charitable Trust, which bought the chapel in 1986 in the hope that it would become a community or arts centre. At the moment it is used as offices. Toby Cockcroft of Croft Residential, which is marketing the building, says: “The old chapel is a gem of a building that could become something really special.”
