NATIONAL LEAGUE: A 3-0 home defeat to play-off side Aldershot Town was harsh on relegated North Ferriby United.

They matched the visitors for long spells, but Aldershot scored the only goal of the first half in the 31st minute when man of the match Bernard Mensah rose to head home Nick Arnold’s nicelyflighted cross.

Ferriby pressed for an equaliser, but Mensah doubled the lead from close range after 62 minutes and substitute Scott Rendell scored the third after Reece Thompson had headed against a post.

Ferriby manager Steve Housham was philosophical after the game,

He said: “I’m proud of the way the team played. We showed our usual commitment and that was important. I would have liked us to produce a win for our supporters who have been tremendous throughout. They could have got on the players’ backs, but they recognise the effort and commitment that the side has shown.”
