Bridge pair shine to boost double hopes
CRICKET: Ryan McKendry and Will Rhodes steered Stamford Bridge to a surprisingly comfortable eight wicket win over Harrogate and opened up the chance of league and cup double that had looked unlikely before the weekend.
Having opened up the title race with victory over leaders Yorkshire Academy on Saturday, Bridge managed largely to contain the Harrogate batting.
Josh Atkinson was the exception, making 72 and sharing a stand of 63 with Ben Kempley (40) and 41 with No10 Tom Geeson-Brown (23).
The 214-9 total always looked hard to defend and even though Harrogate picked up two early wickets, they were unable to part McKendry and Rhodes who came together with the score on 21-2.
Rhodes included eight fours and two sixes in his 80 with McKendry also picking up two sixes and finding the boundary 12 times in 100 scored in 98 balls as they reached 216-2 with eight overs in hand.
