Good day: Kieran Lee

Since January 2, the Owls midfielder has only featured in a five-game spell at the end of last season. He missed all pre-season, and Saturday was his first taste of football in four months. One goal, one assist, plenty of plaudits.

Bad day: Joost van Aken

Hardly a ‘bad day’ but the Dutch centre-half spoiled an almost perfect Owls debut, by not getting close enough to Ben Osborn, who skipped his challenge to go forward and score for Nottingham Forest.

Key moment: 63rd minute

With the game locked at 1-1, Kieran Lee’s left-wing corner was delivered to perfection, allowing Steven Fletcher to rise highest and head in at the Leppings Lane end.

Ref watch: Andrew Madley

Strangely kept his card in his pocket for qute a few robust tackles. No major decisions to make though.

This victory was vital for Wednesday, after failing to win either of their opening two Championship games at Hillsborough. Need to keep a settled side now for September.
