Hodgson’s boot is deciding factor

Yorkshire Post - Sports Monday - - FOOTBALL -

RUGBY UNION: Replacement fly-half Joel Hodgson guided Newcastle Falcons to a crucial 21-20 victory over Gloucester at Kingsholm.

It was Gloucester’s first home league defeat of the season and Falcons’ win saw them extend their advantage over their opponents from two to four points with five Aviva Premiership games remaining.

Ally Hogg and Micky Young scored tries for Newcastle, but it was the goalkicking of Hodgson, who kicked three penalties and a conversion, which proved the difference as Gloucester could not kick any of the conversions to their tries scored by Jason Woodward, David Halaifonua, Mark Atkinson and Lewis Ludlow.
