Yorkshire Post - Sports Monday - - FOOTBALL -

NATIONAL LEAGUE: FC Halifax Town had a man sent off as they lost 1-0 to a Torquay United side battling against the drop.

Halifax striker Ben Tomlinson was sent off for a 74th-minute second cautionable late challenge on Luke Young with the Shaymen already behind.

Sam Johnson made an early save from Rhys Healey and onloan Cardiff striker Healey and Scott McManus went close as the Gulls made a bright start.

Johnson also saved from Young’s free-kick in the 56th minute, but Torquay struck 60 seconds later. Young clipped the ball to the far post and Jamie Reid’s header was pushed over the line by Johnson.

Healey was close to a second as Torquay closed to within five points of safety and with a game in hand on fifth-bottom Woking.
