Dons stay on top af­ter thrash­ing lowly Stags

DONCASTER main­tained their place at the top of League 1 thanks to a 10-try, 60-0 thrash­ing of lowly Hemel Stags.

Former Castle­ford winger Richard Owen scored two tries for Dons, with Jason Tali also bag­ging a brace.

Liam Wel­ham, Zak Bra­ham, Jason Mu­ranka, Aaron Jones-Bishop, Liam Har­ris and Hakim Miloudi also crossed for the hosts, with Jack Miller boot­ing eight goals.

Sec­ond-placed Brad­ford Bulls also broke the half-cen­tury of points as they saw off vis­it­ing Coventry Bears 52-6.

On loan Castle­ford Tigers cen­tre Jy Hitch­cox, Liam John­son and Ge­orge Flanagan all scored two tries apiece for John Kear’s Bulls.

Former Leeds Rhi­nos pair Ash­ley Gib­son and El­liott Minchella also dot­ted down, with Ethan Ryan and Joe Keyes also cross- ing, with Keyes land­ing six goals to keep Bulls level on points with the Dons.

Third-placed York City Knights are also on 10 points as they racked up the points in a 66-6 crush­ing of Lon­don Sko­lars.

Ju­dah Mazive scored a hat­trick of tries for York, with Ke­iron Moss and Aaron Smith both claim­ing a pair and Andy El­lis, Sam Scott, Will Oakes and Ro­nan Dixon com­plet­ing the rout.

Con­nor Robin­son landed 11 goals for Knights.

Keigh­ley Cougars slumped to a 32-18 de­feat away at Old­ham.

A nip and tuck first half saw the hosts lead 16-14 at the break, but they cut loose in the sec­ond half to in­flict a third loss on Keigh­ley.

Brad Nicholson, Josh Tonks and Adam Ry­der got the Cougars’ tries, with Benn Hard­cas­tle tag­ging three goals.

Fifth-placed Hun­slet had a 27-20 win over Work­ing­ton Town – their fourth win in six matches this term.
