Shaymen denied by late penalty
NATIONAL LEAGUE: A dramatic last-gasp penalty condemned FC Halifax Town to a 2-1 defeat at Boreham Wood.
Nathan Clarke’s goal put Halifax ahead with 20 minutes remaining but Josh Umerah scored twice, including a penalty with practically the last kick of the game.
Halifax came close early on when Jonathan Edwards’s low shot hit the post.
The contest opened up a little in the second-half and Clarke’s far post header looked to be sending Halifax on the way to a textbook away win.
But the lead lasted less than 10 minutes as Umerah finally found some space and fired into the bottom corner from 16 yards.
Then Umerah smashed his penalty low past Sam Johnson deep into stoppage time.
