Posh move ahead at the summit
LEAGUE ONE: Peterborough are two points clear at the top of the table after they extended their 100 per cent start to the season with a 5-1 thrashing of Plymouth at Home Park.
They went 2-0 up early through Matt Godden and Siriki Dembele. Jason Cummings netted twice soon after the break – the second a penalty – and after Ryan Edwards headed in at the other end in stoppagetime Godden added his second as Posh made it five victories from five games.
Sunderland moved up to second having come from behind to win 2-1 at AFC Wimbledon. Walsall won 2-1 at Rochdale and sixth-placed Fleetwood drew 0-0 at Charlton.
Oxford registered their first points of the season as they beat Burton 3-1 at home, but Shrewsbury remain without a win following a 3-2 loss at Luton.
Managerless Blackpool were held 1-1 at home by Accrington, the same scoreline as Gillingham’s home clash with Coventry. Southend won 1-0 at Bristol Rovers.
