TOURING CARS: Morley’s Dan Cammish claimed the first two victories of his British Touring Car Championship career at Brands Hatch yesterday.

Starting second on the grid for the first race of the day, Halfords Yuasa Racing driver Cammish got the better of polesitter Brett Smith in the opening stages and then pulled away to complete a dominant victory with team-mate Matt Neal in second.

He then led from start to finish in the second race of the day to complete a memorable double.

“What a great day, I’m really proud of the guys and the team,” said Cammish. “To get my first win is just great – what a fantastic moment. There’s not a better place than Brands Hatch to do it, and in the sun too. I knew Matt (Neal) would be a good wingman – it was good to have that.”

In the overall BTCC standings Team BMW’s Colin Turkington claimed his third drivers’ championship despite enduring a torrid weekend, winning the title by 12 points from nearest rival Tom Ingram with Tom Chilton in third.

Cammish finished 10th in the overall standings and lifted the Jack Sears trophy for the top rookie.
