Burrows in at the double for York
FA CUP: York City have racked up three consecutive home wins for the first time in a year and a half after knocking St Ives Town out of the FA Cup.
Jordan Burrow’s second-half brace, following a ninth-minute Jake Wright strike, smoothed the Minstermen’s passage into the fourth qualifying round against a visiting team that could not muster a shot on target.
Wright opened the scoring when he chased Burrow’s header to beat Sam Wilson.
Burrow put the outcome beyond doubt with his two goals before the hour mark – heading in from David Ferguson’s cross before blasting home after being teed up by Alex Harris.
Bradford Park Avenue lost 4-2 at National League North rivals Altrincham.
Avenue twice forged in front only to be pegged back during an eventful first half.
Jake Beesley scored a penalty after being hauled down by Jake Moult, but Connor Hampson grabbed a scrambled equaliser.
Shane Killock met Nicky Wroe’s corner to make it 2-1 before a long-range Moult drive was deflected past Steven Drench.
The Robins seized control in the second period with goals from James Jones and Jordan Hulme.
Guiseley will host Cleethorpes tomorrow night in a replay after conceding two goals in the final six minutes against the EvoStik Northern Premier League Division One East outfit.
The Lions went ahead just past the hour mark when Will Hatfield drove in from 20 yards.
Scott Smith teed up that chance and laid on another for Kingsley James to double the lead five minutes later.
Hatfield hit the bar before Daniel North and Scott Vernon scored from corners.
