Tigers suf­fer Cup loss to Worces­ter

RUGBY UNION: Worces­ter beat Leicester with a 31-12 vic­tory at Welford Road in the Premier­ship Cup.

Tries from Ted Hill, Dun­can Weir, Fran­cois Hougaard and Bryce Heem helped War­riors to a 26-0 half-time lead as they picked up a bonus-point suc­cess.

Tigers regis­tered on the score­board in the sec­ond half through Gareth Owen’s try but wing Heem quickly ex­tin­guished hopes of a come­back with his sec­ond.

Worces­ter are now four points clear at the top of Pool Two, while Leicester, who scored a con­so­la­tion try through young­ster Tommy Ref­fell, are bot­tom and without a point.

Else­where, Joe Simmonds kicked eight points from full­back as Pool One lead­ers Ex­eter de­feated Bath 25-18.

Yes­ter­day, tries from Taqele Nai­yar­a­voro and Mitch Eadie gave Northamp­ton a 15-14 win at Wasps, while New­cas­tle – with tries from Pe­dro Bet­ten­court Avila and Ben Steven­son - beat Har­lequins 23-21.
