Sil­ver nut­meg grater adds spice to auc­tion

A RARE sil­ver nut­meg grater by James Bar­ber and Wil­liam Whitwell of York, circa 1820, sold for a pre­mium-in­clu­sive £2,440 at Wool­ley and Wal­lis, of Sal­is­bury, Wilt­shire. At Bon­hams in Lon­don, an Ed­war­dian sil­ver twohan­dled tray by Marples & Co, of Sh­effield, 1902, fetched £1,626. A sim­i­lar tray by Atkin Bros, of Sh­effield, 1912, went for £1,125.
