PLANT OF THE WEEK
Tropical stunner hailing from Pacific Islands
CORDYLINE terminalis is a proper tropical stunner with large leaves ranging in colour from variegated pale pinks and greens to purple or deep red. It hails from the Pacific islands – so not too happy outdoors in the UK. Here it’s best to grow it in a big container and bring it indoors when the temperature drops. It likes a well-drained but moisture-retentive soil and regular feeding with a soluble fertiliser. Raise humidity around the plant by putting a layer of pebbles in a tray and setting the pot on the pebbles.
