Peek in to the wonderful world of James Brindley
WITH the amount of choice, themes and inspiration, no two days are the same for the team at James Brindley.
Your home is as unique as you are, and the team at James Brindley can offer a wealth of advice and creativity, not to mention stunning fabrics, furniture and accessories, to create beautiful rooms.
Ann Allan, store manager and buyer at James Brindley showroom in Harrogate, offers a glimpse into her role at James Brindley. “When I start my day at James Brindley, the only certainly I know is that it will be completely different to the day before. I start my day with a good strong cup of tea before the team arrive in the morning, gather my thoughts, set the priorities and then I’m ready to start another exciting day.
“I love the variety here, one day I am helping a customer with window treatments for their home - helping them search through our vast fabric library, the next I’m planning the new product collections for our beautiful showroom.”
With the buying season just about to start, Ann offers an insight into her role.
What are you working on at the moment?
It’s a very exciting time for us right now, we are currently in sale to make way for the gorgeous new collections. I am about to start buying collections for later in 2016; at this time of year it’s all about spinning plates as I turn my thoughts to next year and start building some exciting product collections for our showrooms whilst running the store. With Christmas just 20 weeks away there is the operational aspects of delivering another outstanding Christmas scheme to our very loyal customers, some of whom make quite a journey to come and see the James Brindley Christmas.
How do you decide what products to buy?
Buying new products is a combination of gut instinct and making sure they offer beauty and high quality at a fair price.
These principles have served us well, and our customers are always delighted when we launch our new collections. For those who are looking for something bespoke, this is where we will collaborate with our team of skilled craftsmen. Every client has a unique set of requirements and, just as we match people’s style with the best interior designer, we do the same with our craftsmen to create something as unique. Very often, this is made in Yorkshire.
What are your favourite pieces from the new collections?
It’s hard to choose! I can’t wait to see Christmas in the store. Since my daughter was born seven years ago I have been purchasing a Christmas bauble for her every year. Our baubles are so exquisite, I will struggle to just buy one.
I also have my eye on a new piece of Upholstery by John Sankey. My favourite has to be ‘The Fairbanks’, inspired by the rugged poise of silent movie stars,
